A Segmented Preprocessing Method for the Vibration Signal of an On-Load Tap Changer

The vibration signal of an on-load tap changer (OLTC) consists a series sharp bursts, and its fault feature in certain periods is easily missed. This study considered that preprocessing the OLTC segments could effectively solve aforementioned problem. First, collection discussed, waveform characteristics when was normal action described, selection analyzed. Second, time domain frequency spectrum analyses were carried out to demonstrate necessity segmented preprocessing. Further, method for presented. Finally, main mechanical faults simulated, signals collected carry diagnosis experiment on OLTC. experimental results showed accuracy increased from 94.30% nonsegmented 98.46% increase greater, especially contact wear faults. successfully applied actual project.
